If you've heard the word "kinesiology" from a friend or seen it on Instagram, you might be wondering what it actually is. It's one of the questions I'm asked most often in my Worthing studio, so here is a simple, honest guide.

Kinesiology in a nutshell

Holistic kinesiology is a gentle, hands-on therapy that uses light muscle testing to listen to your body. Rather than focusing only on a symptom, it looks at the whole picture: physical, emotional, nutritional and energetic.

The idea is simple. When your body is holding stress, it often shows up as a subtle change in muscle response. By noticing those changes, we can explore where your system needs support and use gentle techniques to help it rebalance.

What happens in a session?

Sessions take place in my private loft studio at Gull Cottage in central Worthing. You stay fully clothed and lie comfortably on a treatment couch.

1. We talk first. We chat about how you're feeling, what's going on in your life and what you'd like support with.

2. Gentle muscle testing. I apply light pressure to your arm while you hold it in place. It isn't a strength test, and it never hurts.

3. Balancing. Depending on what your body shows, this might include acupressure points, tuning forks, sound, Australian Bush Flower Essences or simple breathing.

4. Integration. We finish with time to rest, and I'll share any small things you can do at home.

Most clients describe feeling calmer, lighter and more grounded as they leave.

Who is kinesiology for?

I work mainly with women at every stage of life, especially those who feel stressed, overwhelmed or running on empty. Many come to me during times of change, such as pregnancy, the postnatal months, perimenopause or menopause.

You don't need a particular reason to book. Some clients simply want a space where they can slow down and feel looked after.

Is it safe?

Kinesiology is non-invasive and very gentle. It works alongside, not instead of, care from your GP or other health professionals. If you have a medical condition, please keep seeing your doctor as usual.

How many sessions will I need?

Everyone is different. Some people come for a one-off session when life feels heavy. Others prefer my four-session Nervous System Reset, which gives the body time to settle into new patterns.
